Sometimes I face a decision like a crossroad: Do I do what seems right or what seems responsible? Reason – what exactly is this rational voice in my head? Where does it come from? What does it want? In the past my body used to be full of emotions. Now there are days in which I am just observing reason winning over emotions and putting my heart in a narrow box: „too dangerous, too expensive, too much, too little, …“ But my heart does not know all those words. My heart knows feelings: It is joyful, it loves, it suffers, it jumps full of excitement. „I don’t need you.“, replies reason. „Without me you are lost” my heart says.

The company Körperverstand. Tanztheater Wien founded by Steffi Jöris and Anna-Luise Braune put emotion and reason face to face, fighting for their say in our life.

PRESS

»Directed and choreographed by Steffi Jöris, Maartje Pasman and Moritz Lembert put the conflict between feeling, sensing etc. on one hand and the meaning of life in general and every aspect in particular in a fascinating and impressive dance performance - not just for the mind.«

»The dance performance „KörperVerstand“ sticks to it’s promises. (...) A fight and reunion of emotion and reason. (...) Choreographer and director Steffi Jöris sets a performative style for each side (...) that blend into each other more and more as the performance goes on. Live music by Markus Jakisic frames the two opponents and poses the question: „What would I choose?«

»The plot is very comprehensible and the performance is impressive. ``Körperverstand`` puts a fascinating interplay for a musician and two dancers representing body and mind on stage.«
